The HALO ORBIT is composed of three musicians representing three different regions on the map, both literally geographically and figuratively. Grammy-winning bassist Joan Alderete (Mars Volta, del Tron 3030), guitarist/synthesizer player Sugar Yoshinaga (suGar Yoshinaga) (Buffalo Doter, Meltiks), and the drummer Mark Juna, respectively, have been brought in by Grammy-winning bassist and synthesizer player. With Aldelette's Los Angeles, Juliana's New York, and Yoshinaga's Tokyo based, the group actually exists in three places at the same time, and their powerful music that stimulates imagination is naturally interwoven with a view of things that reflect it. HALO ORBIT, which is compared with similarly mixed peers such as Battles and Portishead, creates a unique futuristic rock, an overheated dub that makes full use of exquisite nuance textures and precise arrangements, and an unpredictable sweet and light melody. Aldelette and Yoshinaga met for the first time in the late 1990s when Buffalo Doter toured the United States to support the Girls Gainst Boys. Musical collaboration has finally begun to materialize between the two who have been admired each other for more than 10 years. After gathering in Los Angeles with drummer Juliana in the winter of 2012, they wrote a song almost comparable to a single album and immediately recorded it with engineer Robert Carranza. Over two years, I made fine adjustments to each song, and added a few more songs, with the cooperation of various guests. The guests include Del the Funky Homosapien, Risa Papineau, Mani Mark Ramos-Nishita, Adrian Terasas Gonzalez, and Marcel Rodriguez Lopez. As a result, the debut work of the same name as the completed band will be finally released in the fall of 2016. In line with the release of the album, HALO ORBIT will make a live debut with Low End Theory and then embarked on an album tour.
