"Lau's Visit to Japan 2013 in Nagoya"
Aidan O'Rourke (Fiddle)
Martin Green (accordion)
Kris Drever (guitar & vocal)
Formed around 2005 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The band name is Oakney, the hometown of Chris, and means "light", "solar light". Lau, who had been sensational with the ever-increasing arrangement and performance of songs from the beginning, became the center of the scene shortly after the first album was released in 2007. A young trio that can be said to be the strongest in the current U.K. traditional music world, with a feat of winning the prestigious British BBC Folk Award for three consecutive years, and all three members playing brilliantly as well-selling musicians in solo activities. It incorporates elements such as gypsy and contemporary music, and listens to dramatic ensembles that have never been found in traditional music.
