SONATA ARCTICA <Sonata Arctica>

【Biography】 Formed in 1995 mainly by Marco Pacikoski (G), Yani Li Matine (G), and Tommy Portimo (DS). Tony Cuckoo (Vo) and Penti Peura (B) will soon join and work under the name TRICKY BEANS (later renamed TRICKY MEANS). Around this time, he produced three demonstrations such as "FRIENDS TILL THE END", "AGRE PAMPPERS", and "PEACEMAKER", but in 1999 he decided to pursue more dramatic sound with musicality and changed the band name to SONATA ARCTICA. And he will produce the demonstration "FULLMOON" with the lineup of Tony, Yani, Tommy, and new bassist Yanne Kivilafiti. With this demo, the band contracted with Spinefarm Records. After announcing UNOPENED as his debut single in 1999, he released his debut album "ECLIPTICA" (released in Japan in 2000). The existence of SONATA ARCTICA, which appeared like a comet from Finland in Scandinavia, succeeded in suddenly grabbing a lot of fans in his debut work. Especially here in Japan, as a new generation Melo Dick Metal Band, the album is a huge hit. After that, EPs such as "SUCCESSOR" and "ORIENTATION" were also announced. Tony decides to concentrate on vocals on the tour and welcomes Mikko Harkin as a dedicated key bossist for the tour. Even though Yanne withdrew after the tour, Marco Pacificski, an early member, rejoined as a bassist and produced and announced the second album "SILENCE" in 2001. After the European tour, they performed their long-awaited first visit to Japan and released their live album "SONGS OF SILENCE-LIVE IN TOKYO" in 2002, but Mikko then left. He will succeed Henrik Krin Gen Berri, but with the help of Jens Johanson of STRATOVARIUS, he will complete the third album "WINTERHEART 'S GUILD" and release it in 2003. After releasing the mini album "TAKATALVI", the band moved to Nuclear Blast, Europe's largest producer, and released its 4th album "RECKONING NIGHT" in 2004. By this time, the band completely established its status in Western Europe, especially in Finland. After a long tour, he won first place on the Finnish album chart for the first time in the 2007 "UNIA" released with the live work "FOR THE SAKE OF REVENGE" featuring performances in Japan and the first best album "THE END OF THIS CHAPTER" (released another best album "THE COLLECTION" except for Japan). However, on the other hand, he dismissed Yani just before the release of UNIA. The band will tour with Aris Vilyanen as his successor guitarist. In 2009, he released his first album "THE DAYS OF GRAYS" depicting a more profound world, and in 2011 he released a live work "LIVE IN FINLAND" featuring a show from his local Finland. In 2012, the Company announced STONES GROW HER NAME. The band seemed to be the rock's system soon, but Marco announced his withdrawal in the summer of 2013 after the tour ended. The new SONATA ARCTICA, who will be replaced by Pacific Coupine, will produce and present a new work "PARIAH'S CHILD", which returns the logo to the initial one and revives the radiance to the sound.
