Matt Sounds
Selector: Tommy Far East
Gladdy Unlimited
■What is Gladdy Unlimited?
The event will be held to respect great Jamaican artists. Music born in Jamaica in the late 1950s became widely recognized here in Japan on the other side of the earth, and Jamaican-style music gained popularity. That's because many Japanese selectors, singers, and bands realized their charm and were able to perform with Jamaica's quality. From a global perspective, the originality and creative ideas possessed by Jamaica music are great. Gladstone "Gladdy" Anderson, a pianist, singer and producer, contributed greatly to the early days of creating this unique Jamaica music (1960s). He passed away in 2015, but the event started in 2016 to honor his achievements was "Gladdy Unlimited". In May of the same year, an event called "Tribute to Gladdy" was held at the Daikanyama UNIT by people who love the songs he left. The two most aspiring bands in today's Tokyo will co-star for the first time in this "Gladdy Unlimited". Kazufumi Kodama (THE DUB STATION BAND) co-starred with Gladdy in the past, and Matt Sounds played, recorded, and released Gladdy's demo song.
