Michael Blanco y su Salsa Mayor (Michael Blanco y su Salsa Mayor), led by Michael Blanco (composer, arranger, pianist, percussionist) who is attracting attention as a young Cuban artist and genius music director.
In a blink of a blink of an eye from his debut, he gained popularity among the Cuban people as a true successor to Cuban Sarsa, and from that momentum, "The Cuban Mushic Machine" said La máquina music de Cuba. A band with a synonymous name.
Michael Blanco was born in 1981 in the city of Havana. Although he is not from a music family, he has a strong interest in music since childhood, and participates in district events and sings and dances while using various things that can be substituted as percussion instruments such as pots and boxes. Spend his childhood by imitating various popular artists at that time.
At the age of 12, he began studying percussion at a night school in Geraldo Guanche. After that, he went on to the Amadeo Roldan Music Academy and learned piano here. At the age of 15, he formed his own band and won several awards. He has a great success as an amateur band.
At the age of 18, he formed his first Orr Questa, Suprema Ley. After two years of formation, the Spanish label "Envidia Record" was caught and contracted. Announced “Se te olvidó quien eres” and “Ya Liegaron los cubanos”.
After that, Michael finished his music activities and produced 10 CDs and participated in more than 40 CD recordings as a percussion player. He also composed most of the jazz group "Habana Express".
In 2005, he became the director of Salsa Mayor and debuted Orr Questa. While preserving the roots of Cuban music, it incorporates the latest sounds that match the times and is gaining popularity among young people with an image with a new sense. With all energy, talent and creativity in the belief of creating "popular music that makes it easy to dance," Salsa Mayor quickly took the position of the top group on music programs in Cuban.
In 2007, Michael Blanco became a music director, attracting attention overseas, especially in Western Europe, and was recognized as one of the leading figures of Cuban music.
From 2010 to 2015, he conducted tours in Western Europe, North America, Central and South America and around the world to promote CDs and Cuba music, and received various awards. The 10th anniversary concert of Salsa Mayor's formation held at the Lasaro Pena Theater in October 2014 will be later on DVD and will be released under the title "Cerrando Filas".
In August 2015, the first Asian tour was realized. It has achieved great success in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Shanghai. In December of that year, the new album "Que no me veryn lafe" was released.
Since then, he has been conducting tours every year in Western Europe, North America, and South America.
